Mischa Barton Hospitalized

Mischa Barton was hospitalized Sunday, TMZ is reporting that it was due to a bad reaction to medication.

Barton's spokesperson says that she is now home and is "feeling much better."

Barton reportedly fell ill during a friends Memorial Day barbecue and was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles a short time later. She is said to be resting at home comfortably.

I love how every time a young Hollywood starlet is hospitalized their rep says it is due to exhaustion or a bad reaction to meds..blah blah blah.

I'm sure cocaine or alcohol had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Farrah Fawcett to Sue the National Enquirer

Farrah Fawcett has plans to sue the National Enquirer over a front page story they ran in December.

Farrah is claiming the story has caused her emotional distress. The tabloid's article described Farrah's first ordeal with cancer and went into detail about her apparent 'death wish'. The story broke before Fawcett could inform all of her family and friends of her illness.

Her publicist, Craig Nevius, released a statement Friday saying, "While Farrah is prepared to continue the fight she began last fall, she is not prepared to allow the tabloids to continue to invade her privacy or use one confirmed truth as the foundation on which to build numerous fabricated articles.

"Stories and headlines such as the National Enquirer's December 18th cover claiming `Farrah Begs: Let Me Die” can only be regarded as knowingly false and purposefully malicious. Not only have these and other lies been hurtful to Farrah and her family but, as per her doctors, they have been potentially harmful to her recovery."

Farrah Fawcett's Cancer Returns

After being given a clean bill of health in February, Farrah Fawcett has learned that her anal cancer has returned.

It was only last October that Farrah went public with her health scare saying that she would be undergoing treatment for the cancer.

Doctors recently discovered a new, small polyp on Farrah. The 60 year-old actress has vowed to beat the cancer for a second time.

After being declared cancer free last February Fawcett told Entertainment Tonight, "This is an extraordinarily happy day for me and my family. I have been on a journey for the past four months and during this time received a tremendously aggressive treatment which doctors initially warned me would be the most difficult fight of my life. I was told they needed me to 'bite the bullet' and that would require great courage and unfailing determination. In the face of excruciating pain and uncertainty, I never lost hope and it never occurred to me to stop fighting -- not ever.

"This experience has also humbled me by giving me a true understanding of what millions of others face each day in their own fight against cancer. I hope that my news might offer some level of inspiration to others who unfortunately must continue to fight the disease. So to those who are still struggling toward their own victory, stay determined, 'fight the fight' and I will keep you and your families in my thoughts and prayers.

"I am deeply grateful to my team of physicians, my loving and supportive family and devoted friends who have sustained me as I battled this terrible disease, strengthened by my faith in God and the encouragement of so many."

Farrah pledged last year to help other cancer patients with a fundraising program that she started in December.

Farrah personally designed a t-shirt with the saying, "Fight the Fight" on it, her personal motto during treatment. A portion of the sales are being donated to the American Cancer Society.

The shirt is available for purchase at Farrah's official Web site: www.FarrahFawcett.us.

Peter Andre May Have Meningitis

Jordan's husband, Peter Andre, was admitted to a hospital last Saturday after feeling ill while at home.

He reportedly first fell ill earlier this month while on a promotional tour in the US.

A source said that Peter was extremely weak and had to be helped into the ambulance. Peter was discharged Sunday but returned hours later and has been there ever since. Since then he has undergone numerous tests, including a brain scan.

Jordan is said to be very upset and is staying by his side in the hospital.

A spokeswoman for the couple said in a statement: "Following recent tests on Peter Andre at the East Surrey Hospital, it is believed that Peter is suffering from suspected meningitis.

"Peter was admitted last weekend, and at this time we do not have an expected date of discharge."

The statement pleaded with the media "to allow Katie to continue as normal, and support Peter and the family during this worrying time".

The statement added: "We would ask all the press to respect Peter and Katie's privacy, and to not contact or visit the hospital."

There are two types of meningitis - viral and bacterial - and the spokeswoman said it was not yet known which of these Andre may be suffering from.

Viral meningitis is the most common but is usually not serious.

Bacterial meningitis, which includes the meningococcal strain of the disease, is more rare but around one in 10 cases are fatal.

Angelina Jolie Has a Deadly Disease?

From The Age:

The National Enquirer is reporting that Angelina Jolie has a "deadly disease"

The actress and campaigner for child poverty has sparked concern recently with a massive plunge in weight.

She appeared overnight at a charity news conference in Washington looking emaciated and exhausted.

America's The National Enquirer magazine is reporting this week that Jolie has a potentially fatal "serious health problem."

Pre-publication shots of the cover show headlines claiming Jolie is "losing her hair", suffers "uncontrollable shaking" and is plagued by blinding headaches.

It also adds her beau Brad Pitt will stand by the actress, despite rumors as to the state of their relationship.

Jolie's brother James Haven has publicly stated he is worried about his sister's health, though he was more concerned with her shocking weight loss since giving birth to baby Shiloh last May.

He has also told a British paper that she was not eating well and that both he and Pitt were concerned and pushing her towards a healthier lifestyle.

Their mother died in January adding to Jolie's pressure.

But the 32-year-old Tomb Raider star has carried on with a string of high-profile engagements including her UN charity work and the recent adoption of Vietnamese baby Pax Thien.

Pax joined Jolie's and Pitt's Cambodian-born adopted son Maddox and Zahara, who was adopted from Ethiopia, plus Shiloh.

Last night a noticeably thin Jolie spoke in Washington to announce the formal launch of Global Action for Children, an advocacy organization dedicated to orphans' and children's issues.

She pushed for more US aid for education in developing countries during an event to help an orphans advocacy group establish its headquarters in the United States capital.

"This is a happy day because it is not often enough that these children are represented in this town," Jolie said.

Jolie appeared with four others to open the Washington headquarters of Global Action for Children, a nonpartisan advocacy group formed in 2003.

The group, supported by a collection of charities, religious groups and nongovernmental organizations, wants the Bush administration to commit an additional $US2.5 billion ($A3 billion) a year to education and to aiding orphans in developing countries.

"The crisis has far outpaced the funding," said Jennifer Delaney, the group's executive director.

Jolie said orphan children sometimes beat the odds and survive but often are enslaved, resort to prostitution or are forced to become child soldiers. She said vulnerable children could be recruited to join terrorist organizations.

"Our government has the power to choose which path these children are going to take," Jolie told reporters at the National Press Club. "We know the consequences of our inaction."

Jolie has adopted three orphan children, but said any help that people in the US can offer is better than nothing. "The best solution for anyone who is abandoned or displaced is to be home (in their own countries)," Jolie said. "I would support that first and foremost."

Jolie demurred when asked if her cause might be better served if she became more political or ran for elective office. "I certainly don't think anybody wants that," she said, laughing.

Celebrity Quote of the Day - Roger Ebert

"When I turn up in Urbana, I will be wearing a gauze bandage around my neck, and my mouth will be seen to droop. So it goes. We spend too much time hiding illness. There is an assumption that I must always look the same. I hope to look better than I look now."

-Roger Ebert on his disfgurement after surgery last year for salivary gland cancer that spread to his lower jaw. Part of his jawbone was removed, and two replacement operations have failed, he is awaiting a third operation. Ebert also had a tracheotomy that left him unable to speak.

Jenna Jameson's Cancer Scare

Us Magazine is reporting that In November 2004 Jenna Jameson went to the dermatologist to treat some veins on her back, and was shocked when the doctor discovered a misshapen mole that turned out to be malignant melanoma.

Then, before Jameson could go into surgery, a blood test revealed that she was two months pregnant. But her joy soon turned to sadness. The day after she received the happy news, the porn star miscarried, probably due to the stress of the cancer.

The following month, Jameson had the mole excised and has been 100 percent cancer-free ever since. In an exclusive interview, the 33-year-old devout Catholic (and author of How to Make Love Like a Porn Star) tells Us Weekly that she’s made peace with her heartbreak.

“If the pregnancy would have lasted, I wouldn’t have had the surgery,” she says. “So it was all in God’s plan.”
